Comfortable rooms, affordable rates and a beachfront location makes Hilton Garden Inn one of the best South Padre Island hotels. The room decor is typical of a large chain hotel and nothing to shout about, but the rooms are perfectly clean, comfortable and convenient, which is everything for a good rest at the end of a fun day. For unobstructed views from your balcony, try to book an oceanview room on a high floor. Make sure to take some time to check out the massive pool with two hot tubs. There’s also a poolside restaurant and bar, a fitness center, 24-hour business center and 24-hour market in the lobby. Just in case you need some extra sunscreen or a midnight snack!

2. Isla Grand Beach Resort

‘Luxury’ is a loose term in South Padre Island with most properties being three- to two-star, but the Isla Grand Beach Resort stands out with its many amenities you’d expect from a luxury property. Hotel rooms range from pool, garden, or beach views to two-bedroom condos with full-size kitchens and private patios. There’s also a four-bedroom unit too for families or larger groups.  In the resort you’ll find pools with hot tubs and a waterfall, tennis courts, a gym, business center, and massive conference facilities. There’s also the beach, which has volleyball courts, lounge chairs and umbrellas. If you love food, Windjammer’s Cafe serves Tex-Mex, seafood, steaks and pasta selections. There are also over a dozen restaurants, beachside cafes and bars within a 10-minute walk from Isla Grand!

South Padre Island might be known for its spring breakers and family-friendly atmosphere for the rest of the year, but it offers something for romantic weekends too. Pearl South Padre Resort is the only resort with a full-service spa, complete with couple treatments and packages. The rooms, suites and condos all come with their own balconies overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. The rooms do have more modern decor than the condos, which are better suited for families and groups. If you want to splurge, opt for the Executive Parlor Suites, which have separate living areas. Other amenities to enjoy include direct access to the beach, a pool with swim-up bar, hot tubs, a gym and two restaurants.

4. Courtyard by Marriott South Padre Island

Courtyard by Marriott is right on the beach and popular with couples and families alike. As one of the new properties on South Padre Island, the rooms and suites here are modern and beautifully designed. Many also have ocean views! Within the property, enjoy a large pool area, bistro, lounge and sundries shop. Bar Louie serves bar food and great cocktails which you can later work off in the resort’s gym. For activities outside, the resort is conveniently located adjacent to Clayton’s Beach Bar, Sea Turtle Inc, and the Birding & Nature Center.

One of the best South Padre Island hotels for families is Schlitterbahn Beach Resort. Why? For the 25-acre waterpark! Resort guests enjoy discounts to the park, which features multiple indoor and outdoor pools, slides, interactive playgrounds, lazy rivers, and even a zipline. Accommodations wise, rooms here take on a more rustic vibe. They’re not the most luxurious, but they’re in the midst of upgrading. There are also a number of other amenities including three restaurants and bars, a fitness center, a well-stocked gift shop, as well as beach chairs and umbrella rentals.
