What could be more romantic than flying away together in a hot air balloon wedding? The idea of “up up and away together” is such a perfect theme for a wedding, especially for two people who love travelling and want to live a life of adventure together. How amazing would it be to have a hot air balloon wedding?
So for those of you who want to bring a touch of adventure and fun, here are some ideas for a hot air balloon wedding or proposal. Think citrus cocktails at sunset, dining alfresco, and of course, a romantic hot air balloon with the most scenic views for your special day.
1) Elopement shoot

A sense of adventure, celebration and of course love is at the heart of this elopement shoot. Set against the beautiful golden hills of Byron Bay, this stunningly colourful hot air balloon provides a playful backdrop for all the elegant little details that feature throughout.Â

This shoot was done by Kylie of Just For Love Photography, who said: “I have always loved the idea of elopements. The thought of just two people, who are crazy in love genuinely promising to love each other for the rest of their days – they are intimate, romantic and simply beautiful – surely this is the type of love we all want to experience.”
2) Hot air balloon wedding

This couple had a very intimate wedding with just 16 people, and so everyone was able to go onboard to share their special moment. It was a complete surprise for the guests as they were just asked to get ready very early in the morning. Of course, this was quickly forgiven, and everyone had a great time on the hot air balloon enjoying views of the Provence.

Anissa from Weddings on the French Riviera, said that the logistics of this was not easy, but the results were simply breathtaking. We love this intimate hot air balloon wedding idea!
3) Engagement shoot

If you’re an adventurous and fun-loving couple, your engagement photos should reflect that about you!Â

Captured by Shaun Menary, these engagement photos truly reflect the spark between this couple, and the feeling of what it must have been like to be 2,000 feet above Tennessee!
4) Hot air balloon touch down

Talk about making an entrance! Everyone’s jaws dropped when this couple touched down at their wedding reception in a hot air balloon. And who can blame them, it sounds amazing to us too!

This beautiful picnic-themed wedding was captured by Lauren Athalia Photography. Guests were also given balloon rides throughout the night – way to up the fun at a wedding party!
5) Destination wedding

You don’t need to be in a hot air balloon to have a hot air balloon wedding, as this couple will prove. They chose to wed in Bagan, Myanmar, against the silhouettes of temples and mountain ranges, made only more ethereal with whimsical, floating hot air balloons.
6) Hot air balloon anniversary

This couple thought a hot air balloon ride would be a great way to celebrate their one year anniversary… Only one problem – they’re both afraid of heights! Well, it turned out this was the perfect opportunity to conquer that fear together.

Both of them were afraid to look over at one point, but with some encouragement they agreed to look at the same time. How adorable, and what a wonderful way to spend your first year anniversary together!
7) Vintage hot air balloon shoot

Inspired by Parisian romance and a tad of surrealism, this shoot features giant balloons as the main design element. Balloons make one of the best wedding details. It’s hard to go wrong with something so whimsical, that somehow works so well with so many different wedding styles.Â
8) Day after shoot

What’s a day after shoot? These are perfect for couples who didn’t have a chance to get lots of photos on their wedding day. Or maybe you just aren’t happy with the ones taken on the day. This couple had a travel inspired wedding and wanted to incorporate that same theme into their day after shoot.

This lovely couple promised to live a life of adventure together and have been all over the world. We love how the photos turned out!
